The Vanishing is a documentary film directed and produced by William VanDerKloot that revisits one of Atlanta’s most enduring mysteries: the 1965 disappearance of 25-year-old Mary Shotwell Little. Combining archival footage, interviews, investigative research and dramatic recreations, the film explores the unanswered questions surrounding Mary’s disappearance while bringing a fresh perspective to a case that has remained unsolved for more than six decades. Produced by Monument Motion Picture, the project also involved students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), creating a unique collaboration between experienced filmmakers and emerging creative talent.

William VanDerKloot’s Flying the Secret Sky: The Story of the RAF Ferry Command is the fascinating story of the hundreds of civilian and military pilots who risked their lives pioneering global air routes during WWII. Among them was the filmmaker’s father, Bill VanDerKloot, who in 1942 was asked by British Prime Minister Winston Churchill to become his wartime pilot, heading a crew of American and Canadian Ferry Command Airmen. This beautifully edited, finely researched documentary features compelling interviews with the men who faced treacherous North Atlantic storms and enemy fire to become expert pilots. For the filmmaker, this production has had a personal resonance as he traced his father’s footsteps and his flight paths.
